Swedish House Mafia Press Conference

When Swedish House Mafia were announcing their reunion this morning, many non-Swedish speakers were left confused by the developments of the press conference, with all three members quizzed in their mother-tongue. To clear up any confusion on what was discussed during the event, here are the facts of the press conference, and this is what we know:

Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello noted that positive response to their Ultra reunion in March, and saw how fans wanted the return to become permanent through constant social media pressure. They added that the man who organised the reunion was brought to tears when he saw them back together in Miami, and this was an influence in the decision.

When asked about new music, the trio confirmed they have already been working on new tracks, with a new album called TULSA believed to be on the way. When asked what style they will undertake, they said their sound would be similar to ‘the music of today’, but still in the style of Swedish House Mafia. They did not explain further what “the music of today” sound means to them but we can only imagine that the sound of Swedish House Mafia will be updated to give it a modern twist, with the trio favouring bass-heavy sounds of acts like Magnificence in their Ultra set.

When asked about touring, Swedish House Mafia were still tight-lipped, citing that only one show has been confirmed. Stockholm, Sweden on May 4th, 2019 at Tele2 arena will be the next SHM performance. They did say more dates would be announced later. And that tickets for the show are available at 11am this Saturday following a pre-sale on their official website.

When asked about their side projects they explained that moving forward they will be giving 100% attention to Swedish House Mafia. This means that Axwell and Seb’s duo project will take a hold. It also means that following his huge album HUMAN, Steve Angello will retire from solo work. When asked about if they regretted breaking up 5 years ago, they all agreed that it was the right choice. They were sick of Swedish House Mafia and needed a break. Now, they believe the time has come to once again join forces, and dominate the world of dance music once again.
